A little history of the space…
The Lower Hall is situated in the footprint of the original entrance to the Jacobean Nottingham House, the property transformed into Kensington Palace by William and Mary in the late 17th century.
The present shape of the Lower Hall dates from the early 19th century when it formed part of the apartment of the Duke and Duchess of Kent and their daughter Princess Victoria.
Subsequently the apartment was inhabited by the Duke and Duchess of Teck, Queen Mary’s parents, and Princess Beatrice, the youngest daughter of Queen Victoria.
